The central and state governments initiated several schemes for the welfare and benefit of farmers in India. Direct Benefit Transfer or DBT is an effort to alter the process undertaken by the Government of India to transfer subsidies. This system aims at directly transferring subsidies to citizens through their bank accounts. Crediting grants into bank accounts is hoped to reduce leakages and delays.
It was initiated on 1 January 2013 by the Government of India. The system aims at directly transferring subsidies like LPG subsidy, MNREGA payment, Old Age Pension, Scholarships and many more directly in the bank account of the beneficiary.
In DBT, subsidies are passed directly to people who live below the poverty line. The Central Plan Scheme Monitoring System (CPSMS) is used to prepare the beneficiary list, digitally sign the same and process payments on the beneficiary's bank accounts using NPCI's Aadhaar Payment Bridge. All applicable commands related to the DBT can be found on the CPSMS website.
DBT Agriculture Portal
The Government has launched the DBT Agriculture portal https://dbtdacfw.gov.in/.
Through this platform, all the farmers' information and details can be collected so that they can benefit from the central and state government schemes.
Farmers can make use of any government program after they register themselves in the portal. It also provides all the information for the farmers on schemes run by the state and central government.

Types Of Schemes by Direct Benefit Transfer
Cash transfer: Under this system, cash is distributed directly to the individual beneficiaries from the Government. The numerous routes through which the transition from Government to different recipients occurs are:
In-kind incentives from the Government to beneficiaries: The Government provides in-kind benefits to beneficiaries through a central agency. Typically, the Government bears the expense of purchasing the products that can be used for public distribution, as well as supplying them to the recipients they have selected. The beneficiaries then get those services or products for a very small or free price.
Other transfers: grants, benefits, and many more are given to non-governmental organizations and community employees falling under this category. These payments are given because of the support that they provide to other beneficiaries.
