Ans.

A sprayer is a machine used to spray any kind of liquid, sprayers are most commonly used for projection of water, weed killers, crop performance materials, pest maintenance chemicals, as well as manufacturing and production line ingredients. In agriculture, a sprayer t is used to apply herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers on agricultural crops. A Tractor-mounted sprayer is one that is fixed on to a tractor. The capacity of the tank ranges from 150 to 500 gallons. A hydraulic motor attached to the power take-off shaft drives the pump of the sprayer. Its special feature is its Sturdiness. It requires minimal maintenance and can be used for life long.
Their main advantage is that they are more efficient than hand-operated sprayers and compatible with large farms. Their disadvantage is that they are expensive to get and the cost of maintenance is high.
Tractor mounted and trailed sprayers require special care while working upon. Structures for operator safety and guardrails must all be checked. The power take-off (PTO) guards must be in place and anchored and all lubrication points serviced. Initially rotate the pump by hand to ensure it is free and functioning properly. Tyre pressures and wear on trailed machines should also be checked for proper functionality. Proper checking of the sprayer is required with clean water in the tank, operate the sprayer above working pressure, and check for hose leaks. Hose cracks on the pump inlet side will reduce pump pressure and also eventually the performance and thus increase tank foam. On the pressure side, check hose joints, especially where hoses bend when booms are folded. Also, special care should be taken to ensure that the pressure gauge returns to zero when the sprayer is not working.
They usually have UV Stabilised 6mm thick polyurethane tanks. They also have a fill level indicator with a 10% overfill allowance. Integral sump for easy draining is also available. There are a special inline filter and drain valve to prevent blockage. There are separate bases to protect the pump and shaped tank end for wrap-around of hand lance hose. They also have quick-release ratchet straps for mounting to 3 point linkage frame with boom mountings and support stand.
If spray adjustments are electronically controlled, it should be noted that the operator knows what action to be taken if the computerized control fails during work. The response time of automatic spray controls must be checked and noted to avoid any kind of problems. Check the operation of the pressure control and set the appropriate pressure value making sure that the return to tank spray agitation is effective. Boom height adjustment on tractor sprayers must be checked and spray controls, both spray on and off and individual boom section valves worked.
Applications of tractor sprayers are:
· For row crops
· For arboriculture
· For viticulture
· Small farm
· Horticulture
Sprayers are not only used in agricultural applications but also in domestic purposes like :
· Agriculture
· Pest control
· Water spraying
· Small nurseries
· Gardens
· Spraying wettable insecticides and fungicides
· Orchards
· Vegetable gardens, etc.
